Dear Friends,

It’s that time again…and since the last Friends’ Newsletter it’s been all change at The Peter Potter Gallery…

Old Trustees - New Trustees

On 11th November at a small gathering of Trustees, Staff and Volunteers bade a fond farewell to Trustees’ Chairman, Sarah Donaldson and Treasurer, John Anderson. As leaving presents both were given paintings (naturally from PPG artists!) – Sarah, an oil by Patti Yuill and John a watercolour by Ken Lochhead.

Four new Trustees were appointed and welcomed at the monthly meeting on 28th November: Linda Rodgers, Jim Shearer, Ettie Spencer and Giles Sutherland. Linda has a background in management consultancy and will act as interim Chair while Jim, whose experience is in accountancy, will be the new Treasurer. Ettie is a talented professional artist whose work was shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize in 2001 – her work explores the relationship between the man-made and natural environments. Giles is an art critic and writer and is currently a part-time teaching fellow at Dundee University and a contributor to the Times Literary Supplement.

Forthcoming Exhibitions

There’s an exciting and varied mix of exhibitions coming up in the next month which will surely bring some cheer to these dark winter days.

• Lucinda Withinshaw

Lucinda is an Edinburgh-based photographer whose work is concerned with composition, colour and warmth.

• East Lothian Schools exhibition

This is one of our most popular annual exhibitions, which runs for the last two weeks in January - visitors can vote for their favourite work, which is awarded the Doris Goodchild Memorial Cup.

• Rod Hanchard-Goodwin

Rod’s enhanced photographs were exhibited at Cala Homes ‘Viewhome’ at Briery Meadow in Haddington and proved a great success.

The preview for these shows is Sunday 6th January 3-5pm.

New Frontage

The gallery continues with its scheme of improvements with a newly painted frontage and signage which will surely act as an even greater enticement for visitors.
