The Peter Potter Gallery is situated in the former fire station in the historic and picturesque town of Haddington, East Lothian, twenty miles east of Edinburgh.

The Peter Potter Gallery offers an experience quite different from the run of the mill commercial gallery. Established in 1976 the gallery is now run as a Charitable Trust. It plays a significant role in the artistic and cultural life of the region and Haddington in particular. The Trust has retained the original objectives of the founders: to increase knowledge, understanding, practice and enjoyment of art and has been supported over the years by an Association of Friends.

The gallery has a varied programme of exhibitions which change every four weeks. Work is by mainly Scottish artists and craftspeople, both local and from further afield, with an emphasis on encouraging new and unknown talent.

There is also a permanent display of paintings, prints and photographs as well as sculpture, ceramics, glass, jewellery, metalwork, woodwork and a substantial range of art materials and cards.

Our first floor coffee shop has an incomparably beautiful setting on the bank of the River Tyne, overlooking monuments of historic interest - and the resident nesting swan and occasional kingfisher.

The coffee shop serves light lunches, home baking, tea and coffee.
